Warning Sirens

The Village of Campbellsport added two new outdoor warning sirens in 2004.

The first, a rotating siren placed near the public school just off Hwy V, was installed on April 30th.  A second siren was installed on the Waste Water Treatment Plant grounds near Columbus Parc.

The new sirens are intended to enhance coverage already provided by the Village's primary outdoor warning siren located near Well #3 on Spring Street.  The sites of all three sirens benefit from the availability of power from back-up generators.

These sirens are designed primarily to warn residents who are outside that severe weather is approaching.  All sirens will be sounded at noon on Saturdays as part of regular County testing.

On February 14th, 2005, the Village Board of Trustees approved a proposal for a fourth outdoor warning siren to be placed near the southwest corner of the village within the Valley View subdivision (the former Huspen farm property).  As per the recommendation of the Board, the new siren (which will be provided by the developers of Valley View) will be a rotating-type siren identical or comparable to Siren #2 located on the public school property.  The current plan is for the new siren to be installed  when development of the single-family portion of Valley View begins.
