There have been recent reports of a person selling home theater and stereo equipment from the back of his vehicle. He has been stopping at homes and businesses outside of the Village. It is not known where the equipment comes from, however, it is of lesser value than represented by the person.
The Campbellsport Police Department wishes to speak with this person on a matter that occurred in the Village. This person does not present a danger to or threaten the people he contacts. Please be cautious when buying from "door to door sales persons". If you have contact with this person and are able to obtain his name and/or vehicle plate number/ description, please call the Campbellsport Police Department at 920-533-5391. Randy Karoses Police Chief The Police Department received two reports of a window peeper this week. This occurred in the 300 and 500 block of Forest Street. Both incidents concerned a male. We have received information about recent car entries where stereos were stolen from the cars. Latest incidents happened in the area of Reagan Court and David Drive, Eden. Please keep your vehicles locked and garaged if possible.
I was advised of a new site that monitors sex offenders in communities. The address is familywatchdog.us. A Village resident was contacted today by a man who said he was insuring her social security number, by using her credit card. He named an amount that would be charged to her card for this to be done. If anyone contacts you about this, please get their name and phone number and call the Social Security office or your credit card company for verification. DO NOT GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER OVER THE PHONE. A resident received a letter and check from the Atlantic Lottery Corporation. The check was drawn on a bank in Florida and the letter was mailed in Canada. Please be aware these are a scam. If you cash the check and send the amount for "applicable taxes on your winnings", you will be out the money you send. The check will come back as fraudulent, but not before you send the "tax money". Please throw these letters and checks away or shred them
This week, a Village resident received a letter offering a chance to make $250,000 in weeks. The letter claims this is not a pyramid scam and was seen on Oprah and 20/20. These letters requesting money be sent in order to receive large amounts of money are not valid. If you receive a letter similar to this, please throw it away.
Randy Karoses, Police Chief Earlier A.M. hours on 2/01/07, about 15 cars were entered. Only change was removed. The cars and trucks were parked on the street and in driveways. All were unlocked. This happened in the area of Mill Street, between N. Fond du Lac Avenue and N. Helena Street. |
