The Village of Campbellsport experienced unusual weather conditions in 2004. Heavy rains in May and June created a stressful situation for our sanitary sewer system. Large amounts of clear water infiltrated into the system, forcing the village to bypass wastewater, and resulting in a violation of our sanitary sewer permit.
As a result, the village has developed an "Inflow and Infiltration Abatement Program" designed to reduce the amount of clear, non-waste water improperly entering the sanitary sewer system.
One key element of this program is to eliminate illegal cross connections on private property. Notices were sent to all sewer utility customers in April of 2005, reminding residents that water from downspouts and sump pumps may not be routed into the sanitary sewer system.
Any private property owners improperly directing storm water into the sanitary sewer system is required to make corrections.
A copy of the notice can be viewed and printed below.
If you have questions about what constitutes an illegal cross connection, please contact the village offices at 533-8321. Your call will be directed to utility personnel who can advise you.
